Organizers of the unprecedented attempt at writing the entire New Testament scheduled for April 8 are encouraging people to make it a part of their Easter morning schedules.
After a short sunrise service starting at 6:30 a.m., writing will begin at 7 a.m. and should take less than an hour. Participants need not attend the service, and are able to leave at any time. Everyone is then free to walk through downtown and view the estimated three miles of sidewalk covered with Bible verses. Streets will begin opening after 9 a.m. to allow for area church traffic.
The free event is unique in that organizers have not heard of any place in the world where a group has ever attempted to hand write all 27 books of the New Testament anywhere, let alone in large form on sidewalks for display to the public.
The opportunity for a small county like Columbus to shine in the national spotlight for a positive, family event is rare, and organizers believe that, with enough local participation, Columbus can enjoy that opportunity.
